KL Sedap 2014 Part 2: Tony Roma's

Tony oh Tony... you master of the beef ribs.
I don't know about you guys but when someone says beef ribs, we think of Tony Roma's. Yeah we know that we have to go across the Causeway to get our fix (for now) but hey when we're in the area we figure why not? Cos it's the rocks!

But first, something to get the appetite going (as if BBQ Beef Ribs were not enough)

Kickin' Shrimp (RM26.90)

I'm not really the shrimp/prawn guy because I'm really fussy about it. Yeah I know but hey that's just me. It's gotta be done some way I really like or I really can't be bothered. But these Kickin' Shrimp were not half bad to be honest.

They're coated in this kinda like spicy mayonnaise cream and just the right size to pop into your mouth for a nice bite. The sesame seeds are a nice tough and give a nice texture contrast. Not a bad start to the meal I'd say.

Onion Loaf (RM12.90)
Something deep fried can seldom go wrong and the Onion Loaf is a good example. When you're talking good ol' deep fried goodness, onions are a good bet!

Giant Spanish onions are ringed, battered up and fried to a nice crisp for you to dig into. You could go in with a fork but you know the best way is to just dig in with your fingers. The batter has a nice crisp to it and the onions are not going to overpower your tastebuds don't worry.

The only fault I found is that it's served with a BBQ sauce. I'd much rather have my deep fried battered onions served with a nice creamy ranch sauce. It's because of this factor that I'd still rank the Onion Glory at The Manhattan FISH Market still #1 in our books for deep fried onions.

Strawberry Walnut Salad (RM19.90)
For all you salad fans this one is for you. Some greens tossed in with walnuts, strawberries and feta cheese and a tangy vinaigrette here. Nothing really spectacular here but I'd definitely give points for the fate cheese.

Bountiful Beef Ribs
Now this is what we are talking about - MEAT!!!

Time to unleash your inner caveman/cavewoman and enjoy a nice rack of BBQ Beef Ribs. These big ol' things are BBQ-ed to perfection in BBQ sauce. The meat is so succulent and tear off the bone with no issues whatsoever.

Like we said - cooked perfectly! It's got a nice char on the outside and inside you get some meat and some chewy bits. ZOMG I'm drooling just thinking about it!!

If you find the meat a little too dry for your taste, you can squirt on some additional BBQ sauce too.
They have a few flavours to choose from depending on what your taste is... Blue Ridge Smokies for that extra smoky flavour, Carolina Honeys for that sweet hint, Tony Roma's Red Hots for the spicy seekers and last but not least The Original BBQ Sauce.

Put on whatever sauce you want in whatever combination. The star is still the meat!!

You can choose to a Roma Rack of Ribs (RM53.90) or go the full monty with a Full Slab (RM78.90).

Filet Medallions and... Beef Ribs (RM69.90)
We decided we wanted to try some steak too and the Filet Medallions seemed like a good choice. But as you can see from the picture, it was a big disappointing.... And those ribs there are supposed to be the same Bountiful Beef Ribs from the first picture above but errr.... so different right...

So if you're going for the BBQ Beef Ribs, then we'd suggest you just go for the BBQ Beef Ribs.

Anyways as you can see from the pictures above, you do get some sides to go with your ribs...
You can choose from
  • Fire Roasted Vegetables
  • Cole Slaw*
  • Corn on the Cob*
  • French Fries*
  • Loaded Mash Potatoes*
  • Rice
  • Ranch Style Beans
  • Fresh Vegetables
  • Baked Potato
The ones with the * are the ones we have tried. The Loaded Mashed Potatoes are a must and the Corn is a nice touch to be honest. If you want more sides that what you get in your meal, feel free to add on as much as you'd like but keep in the mind that the ribs are a big filler-upper!

Mint & Fruit Dream (RM14.90)
Orange juice, strawberries and cane sugar plus some mint make up this refreshing beverage that is guaranteed to cool you down. To be honest, one is not enough LOL
But do keep in mind that the fruit garnish may be fresh but not necessarily sweet *wink*

Adam's Verdict
Kickin' Shrimp 3/5 -- Onion Loaf 2/5 --  Strawberry Walnut Salad 1.5/5
Bountiful Beef Ribs 5/5 -- Mint & Fruit Dream 3.5/5

Maryah's Verdict
Bountiful Beef Ribs 4.5/5

Well, until a better beef ribs joint comes a long (and is Halal) then this is tops in our list.
May the beef be with you.

And before any of you go "Are you sure Halal? No lah not Halal! Got alcohol how come you say Halal?", please note that they do it a little differently in Malaysia compared to Singapore :)
Please do enjoy this read at this link. Maybe it'll help.

PS no need to go all the way to KL! Johor Bahru City Centre also got Tony Roma's!!
Thanks to our reader @NoraHirin for the heads up!!

Fork & Spoon Toa Payoh - Hanmiga Korean and Japanese Cuisine

As you know, we really loved the HK Beef Noodles from Fork & Spoon but that's gone now and nobody knows where it went (some said Jurong??)

And even though there are other nice things to eat there like the Chicken Rice (which happens to be on our Chicken Rice Chronicles list by the way), we don't really go as often anymore since our beloved Beef Noodles were no longer there.

But recently we were in the area so we stopped by even though we didn't really know what to have and my Darling Wife made a discovery!

BBQ Saba Fish Set ($6.00)
My darling wife absolutely loves Saba Fish and it's so hard to find a nice one nowadays but I think we may just have come across it right here at Fork & Spoon Toa Payoh.

The dish arrives on a sizzling hotplate (yeah you can see it sizzling in the picture!!) nice and piping hot to be enjoyed with rice. The Saba Fish is resting on a bed of chopped onions and served with white rice along with a customary serving of kimchi and Korean ikan bilis (anchovies).

One of the great things is that there is no hamching (fishy) taste or smell to be found here. In fact, even though it says BBQ, the fish is also (confirmed) fried up a little which is actually quite good. The fish is halved so you won't have to deal with any bones and you have easy access to the flesh.

One gripe though - it was a bed of chopped white onions and no cabbage that the fish rested on. In fact it wasn't even a lot of onions :(

But oh well I guess that's a small price to pay!

Maryah's Verdict
BBQ Saba Fish Set 3.5/5

Got quite a few other things to try on the menu but I think Saba Fish is probably gonna be at the top of the list for quite awhile.

Badoque Part II

Okay so I'm sure you all remember our first visit to Badoque right?
After so long talking about it, we finally made our way there but I guess a lot of you were still expecting us to try dishes that might be considered their 'signature' dishes?

Well, we went back. And we did.

Badoque Beef Ribs ($28.00)
Oh yeah. We decided to try the "Daging Gedegak" as they affectionately refer to it. Seen so many Instagram pictures of people holding up what seemed to be dinosaur bones and we finally had one in front of us!

Firstly, let me confirm that the Beef Ribs are as big as they look like in the picture. In fact, they look bigger in person! *GULP*

And we are talking about the real deal here. No pussyfooting around here. It's a huge chunk of meat still on bone and smoking hot waiting to be devoured. It's actually pretty intimidating LOL
Heard a few friends say they tried before and could not finish and I can see why.

It's predominantly a BBQ-sauce flavour because that's what the sauce is but beef ribs are definitely power when it's BBQ right. And you get a nice serving of roasted seasonal vegetables (which you might not be able to finish) but I have seen some shots where the ribs are served with some potato fores instead. Oh and there's a salad too. But I'm guessing you'll be concentrating on finishing the meat first!

If you're in the mood for a fiesta of meat on your plate, then look no further. This is probably the best beef ribs I've had in Singapore so far and so worth the price. If it's too much, then share it between two people also can should be just nice.

Don't think I need to remind you guys to skip lunch if you're planning to have this for dinner right?

Naughty Mojito ($7.50)
I was actually planning to have the famous Iced Salted Caramel since I enjoyed it so much the last time but I saw something on their daily menu board which caught my eye...

A mocktail called the Naughty Mojito sounded nice and refreshing. Nothing like a nice lime icy drink to wash down my maximum beef ribs experience right?

Well it's definitely got a strong lime flavour so if you like your drinks like Calamansi and the likes then you're definitely gonna enjoy this. A nice cool beverage! Not as naughty as the name implies but definitely something to try if you're looking for a drink to perk up your tastebuds.

Adam's Verdict:
Badoque Beef Ribs 4.5/5 -- Naughty Mojito 3/5

Well, so far it seems like everything I've tried so far at Badoque has gone down really well. And the best thing is there are still so many more dishes that seem like the bomb! I guess more visits are in order and I've gotta try really hard to resist the Badoque Beef Ribs if I want to have any chance of trying other stuff on the menu.

PS the staff are still super friendly!

Burger King - King Dogs

When I first heard my Brother tell me that he ad hotdogs from BK, I thought to myself "No lah cannot be... their current promo is the Rendang Burger what..."

And then I realized why there was no fanfare and no ads about the new BK King Dogs. That's because they are not really a promo item but actually part of BK's Star Buys line-up. And that also means they should be really cheap am I right???

King Dogs ($2.00 each)
So Burger King branch out a little further than burgers and came up with a close relative - the hotdog.
I know our first reaction will be "Burger King should be burgers what right..." but wait wait let's see what they have to offer before we jump to any conclusions.

They have 2 types to offer us - Honey Mustard & Ketchup and BBQ & Mayo.
Of course the sauces are doused over a chicken sausage which lies in between a hotdog bun.
Sounds like a relatively simple idea right?

Well, let me tell you something - these King Dogs rock!!

Honey Mustard
BBQ & Mayo
The one thing I simply must rave about is the actual sausage itself. It's a chicken sausage and it's definitely of a good quality. Besides having a nice bite to it, it's actually pretty tasty too! I was not expecting much for the price I was paying but I have to say I was very pleasantly surprised and the sausage is definitely the main draw here.

My Brother said that the buns were really soft too and I guess he was right they were not bad.  But I do note that if you order takeaway and end up in an air-conditioned area, the buns tend to dry up or harden up a little so best to eat it while it's fresh and hot.

Sauce-wise I guess it's really up to your preference.
The Honey Mustard is our weapon of choice here. I guess the traditional notion is to have mustard and ketchup on your hotdog. I actually found the BBQ & Mayo quite mundane to be honest.

Adam's Verdict:
Honey Mustard & Ketchup King Dog 4.5/5 -- BBQ & Mayo King Dog 2.5/5

Azlan's Verdict:
Honey Mustard & Ketchup King Dog 4/5 -- BBQ & Mayo King Dog 3/5

The place that we are most likely to have a hotdog nowadays is when we watch a movie at the cinema. Well, I think it might slowly change to BK from now on because these King Dogs are actually really something. After a few disappointing products from BK, I have to say this is a step in the right direction.

And the low price of $2.00 makes it a very very good snack on the go. And they even have it available for breakfast too! You can have a King Dog, Cheese Fries and Coke Float and you'll still spend less than $5.00 for a whole meal!!

If Burger King might consider some feedback - maybe they should also have a 3rd flavour...

Penang Culture

Advertorial

My darling wife had gone to this makan place with her friends during the recent Ramadhan. I hadn't heard much about Penang Culture before that. Many months later, we finally got the chance to visit and tuck in to some Penang-style cuisine.

The first thing that surprised us after browsing through the menu was that they offered not only Penang favourites but even some other dishes that you might enjoy as well.

Penang Hokkien Prawn Noodles ($7.65)
First thing on our list was the Penang Hokkien Prawn Noodles.
We did some research on foods that everyone should try in Penang and this was definitely on those lists!

When someone says Hokkien Mee in Singapore, the first thing that comes to mind is the Fried Hokkien Mee aka Rochor Mee which is the half-beehoon-half-yellow noodles dish with loads of prawns fried up in prawn stock. But when someone mentions Penang Hokkien Mee, we are talking a nice big bowl of soupy goodness.

The first thing we tried was the stock which was full of flavour!
We were told that the stock was made with prawns and chicken which is what gives it such a rich and flavourful oomph and I could not help but keep gulping it down.

You will also get bee hoon and yellow noodles  so you can decide which you prefer.
But it's topped off with fish cake, chicken, boiled egg and 2 big prawns for you to enjoy!

Here's a tip - mix in the spoonful of chilli sambal to give your dish an even more spicy kick!

Penang Assam Laksa ($6.95)
Here's another Penang must-try!

We've had Assam Laksa before but this was a whole different story.
The spicy-sour fish broth was really the bomb. I thought I had found treasure with the Hokkien Prawn Noodles broth but for those of you going for a more tangy flavour - this is for you!

And the best thing is that it was not overly sour that you get tired of the taste after a few spoonfuls.
This was a very flavourful broth and boy was I hooked!

And here's a special touch that I never expected.
You see that spoon with the black liquid? It's Petis Udang (Fermented Prawn Paste)!!
Totally unexpected and added such a big difference to the dish!

If the broth was not enough to convince you that this was authentic Penang fare, check out the noodles.
These are not the regular thin Laksa noodles you'd normally get. These are thicker (very similar to Laksa Cap) and give you a great bite.

Pile on some noodles, sardines and yummy broth and take a big delicious SLURP!!

Penang Fried Koay Teow ($7.95)
Here's the dish that so many people were telling us to try should we visit Penang Culture.
One of the dishes that comes to mind when someone says Penang is undoubtedly Penang Char Koay Teow.

Don't be confused with the Singapore version which has loads of sweet sauce in it.
None of that here but definitely lots of chilli! Don't worry it's not going to burn your mouth off but if you're the type that likes your kway teow to have the full flavour of noodles and spiciness of chilli, this is for you!

Finish it off with some greens, beansprouts, eggs and of course - cockles!
A Penang hawker favourite available right here!

BBQ Seafood Platter for 2 ($17.95)
If you're looking for something to share, consider this a good choice of BBQ goodies so you can sample a number of things at once. It's also good for you to whet your appetite while waiting for your main course!

You get a nice mix of BBQ prawns, Satay and BBQ squid.
In fact, it's even enough to share between 3-4 people!

The prawns were great and I love it when they make it easy to eat. No messy peeling!
And the sambal was good too! Similar to the BBQ seafood type of sambal you get and this one was a little sweet but definitely spicy!

And I didn't get a chance to snap a picture of the squid but it was tender and not at all rubbery!

For all you Satay lovers, you'll probably enjoy the Satay here. The meat was tender and the satay sauce was good. Plenty of cucumber and onions for you to chomp down on but you might wanna ask for more sauce.
And I know you'll probably say that if wanna east Satay then might as well go somewhere that specializes in Satay but if you're at Penang Culture, the Satay is still something you might want to try if you're there.

Pink Guava Juice & Ampla Juice ($4.55 each)
They've actually got quite a selection of drinks at Penang Culture for to wash down all the yummy makan.

One of the more unique ones (and one I've never tried before today) was the Ampla Juice.
The Ampla fruit is also known by another name, Buah Long-Long, and is apparently a very healthy choice.
It has a distinct veggie taste but also have a very nice tang to it. Definitely gets the appetite going and is refreshing enough to cool your mouth down with all the spicy food.

They also have Pink Guava, Rambutan Juice and even Nutmeg Juice!!

King Of Cendol ($6.95)
JENG JENG JENG!!!

The King Of Cendol is the perfect dessert for you Durian Lovers.
Cendol, sweet red beans and coconut milk topped off with shaved iced, gula melaka and fresh durian!!

The cendol was soft and the red beans were nice and sweet. And the fresh durian was definitely the highlight!
Definitely a nice and sweet end to a very very satisfying Penang-style meal!

They also have other sweet treats for you including Ice Kachang and Bubor Hitam!
And for those of you who do not fancy durian, don't worry! All the desserts have a version which does not have durian so you have a choice too!!

What we had tonight was just the tip of the iceberg apparently.
So many more dishes to try including Penang Belacan Fried Rice, Penang Hokkien Crab Noodles and even Assam Curry Fish Head!!

This is a great place for a quiet meal for 2 or even for a family feast.
They even have special Kids' Meals!

And in case I haven't mentioned, the head chef in-charge of all the dishes used to be a hawker/chef from Gurney Drive in Penang so he must definitely know what he's doing right! I've never been to Penang but I think I've got a great idea on how delicious the food is!

East Coast Lagoon Food Village Reopens!

In August 2013, East Coast Lagoon Food Village boarded up and underwent  a "major renovation" to revamp one of Singapore favourite makan places.

East Coast Lagoon Food Village is a favourite haunt for people from all walks of life. Be it weekdays or (especially) weekends, people flock from all over to get their fill of seafood and satay while enjoying a nice alfresco dining experience by the seaside.

Well, as of 22 November, East Coast Lagoon Food Village has finally re-opened!

A $1.5 million revamp about a decade after its last major renovation.
There was a fire which affected 3 or 4 stalls (including my beloved Satay Haron) a few weeks before the reno. This was surely a factor in the decision to undergo the 3-month revamp but not the main reason.
Apparently, the decision to revamp was made before the incident with the fire. I guess it just sped up the process.

So what exactly did they change?
Not much to be perfectly honest.

One of the main differences you will see is that pretty much all the ground area is now tiled up.
Even the seating area heading towards the seaside is all tiled up instead of the sandy paths.
The covered walkway in the middle is also tiled instead of the wooden walkway.

But other than that, there really wasn't much else.
Maybe a fresh coat of paint or two? They changed the tables and chairs out for new ones. And the car park is now a gantry so no more parking coupon worries.

Unfortunately, they did nothing to solve the problem of the rain.
East Coast Lagoon Food Village is one of those places which is pretty much out of the question if it rains.
Only certain seating areas are covered and even then, you're still probably gonna be affected if there are strong winds and the seating/tables are going to be wet.

It just so happens that it rained heavily when we visited over the weekend and saw first-hand how the rain easily  took out half of the available seating areas.

The stalls are pretty much the same and only the stalls affected by the recent fire seems to have new signboards. Everyone else is pretty much status quo. Which is a good thing because your favourite stalls are still around. I know mine are!

Haron Satay
Ahmad Spring
Wah if got these 2 stalls means okay for me already.
Satay and chicken wings = SETTLED!

I guess when they said "revamp" and "major renovation", I expected them to really re-do, and improve the whole place. They should have just said they were going to touch up.

Whatever your favourite stall at East Coast Lagoon Food Village, take solace in the fact that you can now head down again and tuck in just like you used to. So bring the whole family for a feast but look out for the weather and go early on weekends!

Texas Chicken: Mesquite BBQ Burger

When I saw that displayed in a Texas Chicken outlet, the first thing that came to my mind is "Yes! Looks like Texas-style Pulled Chicken!". And boy oh boy do I love it. (Read HERE for more info)

So anyways, I had some time to kill so I got me a meal.

Mesquite BBQ Burger Combo ($6.60)
Firstly, let me say - that is NOT how it looks in the first picture.
Not at all.

I mean. I don't mean to sound like some Action Jackson dude but...
Is it my imagination or is that bun missing some sesame seeds compared to the first pic above?
Okay never mind. Small issue. What's important is the meat right?

Well, that didn't go very well either.

I'm sorry but that chicken tasted funky.
You know the 'chicken' taste you get when you either don't wash the chicken properly or if the chicken has been kept too long? Well, this had that taste. And if I can still taste it through all that BBQ sauce, then you know what I mean.

Call me fussy if you want but I'm pretty sensitive to this kind of thing and I surely didn't expect it here.

Texas Chicken claims that they make all their food items freshly and they use the freshest ingredients.
This did not seem to be the case at all.
And we pay $6 for this which is no small amount and can get us a meal at almost all other fast food joints

I ordered that meal at about 10.45am which is when the store has JUST opened.
That means 1) either they're lying about the 'made freshly' part or 2) they served me leftover chicken.
But hey, I'm not going to make wild accusations without trying to confirm things right?

So I went to their website and tried to send them some feedback and hopefully get a response.

================================================
"Hi Texas Chicken. I just have a quick enquiry. For your Mesquite BBQ burger, is the chicken meat fresh (as in is it prepared from meat which specially cooked for the Mesquite BBQ burger) or is it made from meat which may have been left-over (from perhaps chicken pieces which were not sold the day before)?

I had it this morning at your Tampines outlet at about 11am this morning. The burger was hot which means it was freshly prepared but the chicken meat had a distinctly 'stale' taste to it. And to me, if BBQ sauce cannot mask that taste then that chicken may not be fresh.

I am not making any accusations but I'm just curious about this matter. Hope you can shed some light.
Thanks."

================================================

I didn't get a response after 2 weeks so I re-sent it again.
I have not gotten a response even up til now.

Adam's Verdict:
Mesquite BBQ Burger 1/5

I'm not sure if this was my bad luck to get the stale chicken burger or if anyone else has experienced this.
For all I know, this might be someone's favourite burger and I just happened to get the wrong one.

I've heard that Taxes Chicken sells some pretty tasty Fried Chicken.
But I think I'll stay away from the Mesquite BBQ Burger.

KL Sedap Part 2: Hard Rock Cafe

I'm sure you guys remember when we headed to Hard Rock Cafe (HRC) in Melaka right?
Well before there was HRC Melaka, there was HRC KL!

But before we start, let me apologize in advance for the quality of some of the pictures.
The place was rather dark and I had no choice but to fire the flash in most of the shots so they appear rather bright. But I guess that's better than having pictures of the silhouettes of the food right?

Hickory-Smoked Chicken Wings (RM26.00)
When you order your wings, you have to choose between either Classic (Normal), Tangy BBQ (Mild) or Heavy Metal (Spicy). Talk about lighting the fire of my appetite am I right?

Well it's basically like an order of Buffalo Wings.
The wings are tossed with the special sauce of your choice. They douse the wings with the sauce just nicely because you will get some on your fingers when you pick it up but not too much that it's overpowering.
Served with a Blue Cheese ranch dressing!!!

And at RM26.00 for half a dozen wings, it's a steal!!

Famous Fajitas Trio (RM55.00)
So these are the famous HRC Fajitas. (My mum's favourite!)

You have a choice of beef, chicken, shrimp, a double combo of two meats or a trio like mine!
It's served on a hotplate with a bed of sizzling onions. Awesome!

Fajitas Accompaniments
The Fajitas come with some accompaniments of course.
Some tortillas for you to stuff with the meat. You've also got lettuce, guacamole (avocado), herbed diced tomatos, Monterey Jack and Cheddar cheeses plus sour cream!

So if you're looking to have a party in your mouth, all the guests are already invited!

I can tell why my Mum loves this so much.
The grilled meat on the hot plate taste so much better when they're still sizzling hot and getting to choose what you want (or don't want) to be in your tortilla makes it even better. In fact, ditch the bread and just eat the meat! It's totally fine!

Hickory-Smoked Bar-B-Que Beef Ribs (RM78.00)
This is something we wanted to have in HRC Melaka but we passed.
And my darling wife decided she wasn't going to pass it up twice in a row!

BRING ON THE MEAT!!!

The tender beef ribs come smothered in BBQ sauce and cooked absolutely superbly.
The meat is so tender you don't even need a knife! You can just use your fork to twist of the meat and it comes falling off the bone just like that. Wish they would have laid off a little on the sauce though because I'd rather enjoy a little more of that beefy flavour instead of the BBQ sauce which is also in the baked beans.

It comes with fries, coleslaw and some baked beans.
This is a MUST HAVE for any meat lovers!!!
(My mouth is literally watering as I type this now while looking at the picture above)

Adam's Verdict:
Hickory-Smoked Chicken Wings 3/5 -- Famous Fajitas Trio 3/5
Hickory-Smoked Bar-B-Que Beef Ribs 4/5

Maryah's Verdict:
Hickory-Smoked Chicken Wings 2.5/5 -- Hickory-Smoked Bar-B-Que Beef Ribs 4/5

Still so many items to try on the menu at HRC.
I reckon we'll be making our way there a few more times. At least.

Charco's Part II

Beef Ribs + 3 Salad Choices (16.90)

So do you guys remember my first post about Charco's?
Well the last time, everyone had the Beef Ribs and nothing else I figured that the next time I'd have something else... and the time had come.

So my darling wife again had the Beef Ribs and this time, the ribs were nice and tender unlike the last time where consistency seemed to be a bit of a problem. And the only difference she made to her 3 salad choices was that she took the Fruit Salad for one of 'em.

And her verdict on the Fruit Salad? - Don't take it.

But you know what still rocks?

 Creme Potato ($5.60)

Simply delicious lah I tell you.

So what is this "something different" that I decided to try in the end?
Hmmmmmm...

Chicken Schnitzel and 3 Salads ($10.30)

Firstly, let me start by saying that the Egg Salad is still the BOMB!

The Schnitzel itself was basically a big piece of boneless chicken (most likely the breast in this case) which is hammered out til it's flat then breaded and deep fried. This means it's cripsy chicken goodness!
And I'll be honest, I don't know of anywhere else that serves a Halal Schnitzel.

Well I guess you gotta like chicken if you're order this because it's a damn big piece of chicken.
Seriously. It's big enough for 2 to share I reckon. I couldn't even finish it lah.
But the Egg Salad is the bomb.

And this is all killer no filler okay.
100% chicken meat and the breading is really good too. How can you tell? Because even after it cools down, it's still crispy! A sign of a good schnitzel?

See that little plastic bowl in the back? They actually serve this dipping sauce with it.
I guess it's kind of a cross between a black pepper and a mushroom sauce. But not really.
I had a little but the schnitzel itself is actually pretty tasty without the sauce but they still have good old chilli and BBQ sauce if you'd like.

And last but not least - the Egg Salad is the bomb.

And in case you were wondering.

My brother had the chicken too but the roasted variety. And I think I'll review the chicken properly next time because they have at least 2 types on offer at Charco's.

Definitely seems like it's worthy of a separate review based on the first tastes.
