Domino's Pizza

So for pizza delivery chains, I've covered RITE Pizza, Canadian 2-for-1, Sarpino's, Pezzo and even Pizza Hut's Signature series. Now I'm adding another to the list!

Domino's is actually really popular but I guess maybe we don't really know the scale because they don't really put too much into advertising? I mean, how often do you see a TV commercial for Domino's Pizza am I right?

Domino's actually started out in America so I guess they've got the classic American pizza image going on for themselves.

But through advertising with flyers and word of mouth, Domino's still manages to have quite a big following through good pizza and also what they boast as the best delivery ever - 30 minute delivery!

Classic Pepperoni

As always, I like me a bit of Pepperoni when I have pizza. I know there are always plenty of other flavours to choose from and just Pepperoni can be considered a bit boring maybe?

As you can see, the Pepperoni slices at Domino's are the big type and not that mini-sized Pepperoni you might get at other pizza places. They are pretty thick too so you get a nice bite when you take a nice big chomp. The Pepperoni is beef by the way in case you were wondering.

Top that off with a nice layer of Mozzarella cheese and you have a great pizza!!

Simply Cheese

I think a lot of people are probably going "Wah! Your pizza choices so boring!!".
But hey what can I say. We've got simple tastes! :P

Actually, to be honest, I really love cheese and I really love cheese pizzas but I seldom get the chance to order because the majority will always order something like Hawaiian or some Meat Lovers thing and of course an All-Cheese pizza will most likely be left out so let me say I was really happy that I finally got the chance to order myself a cheese pizza!!

Domino's version has Mozarella and Parmesan cheese topped off with some Oregano. I know some other pizza places have like 5-cheese pizzas but this is a good pizza and a good start!

Both pizzas above are actually tomato sauce-based. The tomato sauce is generous but it does not overpower the taste/flavour of the toppings because it's not as sour as we might be used to.

Domino's also has some non-tomato sauce based pizzas for you to choose from. They have like 6 sauces for you to choose from! Then you have to choose from a really big selection of pizzas ranging from their All-Time Favourites Range, Classics and First Class. They have some interesting and even some really extravagant pizzas to choose from.

And of course, there's also the matter of the type of crust!!

Domino's is quite famous for their thin crust pizzas and you can see why...
When they say thin crust, they REALLY mean thin crust!! Nice and crisp too!

But if you're not a fan and want more bite, you can also choose the Classic Hand Tossed, New York Crust, Cheese Burst and the Cheesy Crust.

And what about pricing?

Adam's Verdict:
Classic Pepperoni 3.5/5 -- Simply Cheese 4/5

Azlan's Verdict:
Classic Pepperoni 3.5/5 -- Simply Cheese 3.5/5

Mein Brudder thought it was nothing special probably because he's used to ordering more fantastical pizza choices compared to these 'boring' 2 here. But overall you can see it's not too bad actually.

Best thing for you to do is check out their website and take a look at all the choices you have.
Sauce. Crust. Pizza choice. Take your time. I can tell you I'll probably be ordering from them a few times during this World Cup season!

And if they deliver your pizza later than the promised timing of 30 mins, you get a voucher to use for your next order with them!

Canadian 2 For 1 Pizza

CANADIAN PIZZA! 2.. for.. 1... JENG!!
CANADIAN PIZZA! 2.. for.. 1... JENG!!

Love that commercial.
Seriously.

So we wrote about RITE Pizza before and then we went on to Sarpino's.
And now it's time for one of the originals - Canadian Pizza!

I remember back then you could only get pizza delivered from one place - Pizza Hut.
And then in the late 90s, Canadian 2-for-1 Pizza appeared on the scene and what a massive impact!
Not only another Halal pizza joint with delivery but offering 2 pizzas for the price of 1!

Well they have definitely grown since then and expanded their menu.
Now serving at least 26 different types of pizzas and other items like pasta, lasagna, chicken wings and even Shepard's Pie among other things, Canadian Pizza has definitely cemented its place in Singapore as one of the leaders in pizza delivery.

In fact, they even have expanded to a dine-in set-up as well...
Hmmm maybe it's time to check it out.

Hawaiian Pizza

Meat Lover
Who can resist a nice piping hot pizza?!

So you have a choice of ordering 3 different sizes;
Regular (10") for $23.90, Medium (12") for $31.90 or Extra Large (14") for $37.90.
So for that price, you get TWO pizzas!

And as you can see from the pictures above, they are very generous with the toppings!
Turkey Ham, Pineapple and 2 different types of cheese on the Hawaiian.
Minced Beef, Pepperoni, Salami,Turkey Ham and Italian sausage on the Meat Lovers.
If your mouth is not watering yet, click HERE for the full menu and descriptions.

Adam's Verdict:
Hawaiian Pizza 3/5 -- Meat Lover 4/5

Maryah's Verdict:
Hawaiian Pizza 3.5/5 -- Meat Lover 3.5/5

And it's not always the case, but this time, there was something wrong with the pizzas.
I'm not sure if it was a newbie making the pizzas or they were in a rush but they didn't cook it long enough so the bottom of the pizza didn't crisp up and turned soggy because of the tomato sauce.
This meant lots of dripping when you lift up your pizza slice.

But like I said, seldom happens.
And I hope it never happens again. Ever.

Sarpino's Pizza

So do you guys remember that write-up I did on RITE Pizza awhile back?
Well I finally got around to ordering another couple of pizzas.

So I remember Sarpino's Pizza being around for ages. In fact I think I even remember seeing it as far back as when I was kid! But I also remember it was not Halal. Well that seems to have all changed recently.
Not only has Sarpino's gone Halal, they're rapidly expanding their reach around Singapore's pizza lovers!

Let me start with the website.
I'm kinda impressed to be honest. This here is a website that gives you a proper viewing of what you're gonna be ordering and is super easy to navigate. The menus are sorted out for you and the types of pizzas are given a full ingredient run-down to make your decision-making easier.

Another bit of good news? Sarpino's also has a 'One for One' menu of pizzas.
The main difference compared to others - the one-for-one menu is slightly different from the ala-carte menu.
This means that you may see certain pizzas on the 'one-for-one' menu that will not be available ala-carte or listed under the 'Gourmet Special Pizza' section. From the looks of it, the more extravagant pizzas like 'Maui Luau' and Spicy Beef Twister' are Gourmet specials. Suffice it to say that the pizzas in the 'One-for-One' section are a little more on the simpler side.

But that's not necessarily a bad thing. Example? The Double Pepperoni is in the 'One for One' menu.

And speaking of Double Pepperoni...

Double Pepperoni Pizza

And that's a large size by the way.
And they aren't that stingy with the cheese as you can see so all you mice out there can rejoice!

I've taken quite a liking to Pepperoni pizzas in recent years and I guess this wasn't the worst I've had.
But then again I kinda expected a name like Sarpino's Pizzaria to pack a little more punch I guess.
Maybe a little (or A LOT) more pepperoni slices would have been (very very) nice.

PS doesn't that look a little burnt to you?

As you can see it's a actually quite solid slice of pizza.
As you can see, that's actually quite a lot of pepperoni.
As you can see, that's actually quite a lot of cheese.
As you can see, I obviously think that there can never be enough pepperoni and cheese on a pizza.

Okay lah maybe it's not the toppings.
I mean, the RITE Pizza we had had like so much less toppings compared to the Sarpino's.
But I still gave the RITE Pizza a high score because it was tasty. This one was just.. well...
Hmmmm...

Aloha Pizza

Oh and the 2nd 'One' from the 'One for One' deal we ordered was the Aloha Pizza which is just basically their version of the all-time favourite Hawaiian.

Come to think of it, the Hawaiian pizza seems to have lost its #1 position in terms of pizza rankings eh.
I remember in the past, when it came to pizza, COMFIRM PLUS CHOP got Hawaiian on the way.
Nowadays, it seems like people order Hawaiian if they have no other choice.
Or maybe it's just me.

And yes you are looking at the photo correctly.
It does look a little overly-burnt in some places. Don't get me wrong. I love a little charring.
But when you can taste the 'burnt' taste, something went wrong.

Maybe it was just our bad luck we got a batch of pizzas where the guy overshot the cooking time.
Oh well.

One final thing I'd like to point out please.

This was the underside of the top-half of the pizza box.
I (and I'm sure the rest of you will agree with me on this one) like my topping to be ON the pizza.
Not the pizza box.

So dear Sarpino's - I know you want to be different from the other pizza joints in Singapore...
But... this is the one thing that I think you should follow.

Makes a difference.
Trust me.

Adam's Verdict:
Double Pepperoni 2.5/5 -- Aloha 1.5/5

Maryah's Verdict:
Double Pepperoni 3.5/5 -- Aloha 2/5

Sarpino's is rapidly expanding.
They have small shops everywhere when you can have a sit down and a slice of pizza. And I even saw them set up a small stall during the recent Bazaar Geylang. Deliveries must be booming (my darling wife ordered 3 times already lah!)

Maybe next time I'll sit down and have a slice on-site.
I wouldn't mind trying their 5-Cheese pizza cos it looks good.
